Screens for sick call, administers medications, and provides first aid and basic life support to patients and employees as needed. Maintains open lines of communication with security and treatment staff while providing input and feedback to assist the facility provider in organizing a treatment plan. Records all pertinent information into the medical record. Interacts with other departments as needed. Promotes continued competence through education/certification with a focus on correctional nursing. Nurses must have the ability to work hours, days and locations as assigned along with being capable and available to provide coverage as needed to meet institutional needs. Assignments to other duties or locations may be necessary to meet the clinical and administrative needs of the Department.This is a full-time position with an annual salary range of $60,672 - $78,731.Minimum QualificationsGraduate of an accredited school of nursingMust possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license (if you are a recent graduate of a nursing program in VA and not licensed, the NCLEX-PN exam must be scheduled at the time of application) Working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of practical or general nursing careDemonstrated ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionalsAbility to maintain appropriate documentation, provide first aid, and carry out providers' orders in applying treatments Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to administer practical nursing careCertified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required upon hireAdditional ConsiderationsExperience working in a Corrections or Law enforcement environment Experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical careSpecial InstructionsYou will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or rsum is submitted successfully.
