Licensed Safety Officer - Williamsburg Charter High School : Job Details

WILLIAMSBURG CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL Licensed Safety OfficerReports to Safety & FacilitiesThe WCHS seeks out individuals who are:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain clearance in the halls during school hours.
• Scanning students into school in the morning.
• Assuring the proper uniform is in place upon entrance of students into the building.
• Checking locker rooms and all bathrooms for clearance.
• Clearing the front desk and first-floor area.
• Patrol school grounds to maintain order and secure students, employees, and WCHS property.
• Respond to classroom calls of disturbances and behavioral issues.
• Round-up and monitoring of daily student detention for one entire month during the academic year.
• Respond, investigate, and control various situations and altercations.
• Assist in the investigation of possible illegal activities on school grounds such as; searches of backpacks, lockers, and classrooms for illegal substances and weapons.
• Trained emergency response and EMR evacuation
• Assists with monitoring student breakfast, lunch, hallway, and reception desk as needed.
• Perform other related duties as requested and assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• New York State safety Training and Certification,16hr and 8hr annual
• New York State Security Guard License
• Minimum 1-year experience in safety services
• Great communication skills
• Detailed-oriented with the ability to multi-task
• Shift 7:30 am to 3:30 PM, M-F
• Ability to work overtime
• Prior security or law enforcement experience
• DOE Fingerprint clearance is a plus+
• Bilingual Spanish highly preferred
