DescriptionGENERAL DESCRIPTION: Plans, organizes, and directs activity programs under the guidance and supervision of the Life Enrichment Coordinator. Provides recreational programs to increase muscular coordination, promote positive mental stimulation and socialization. Completes all necessary documentation of activities satisfactorily. Performs other related duties as required. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement planned activities as outlined on calendar of events.
  • Transport residents to and from planned activities in and outside the facility.
  • Provide one on one activities with residents unable to attend group activities, when time allows.
  • Maintain documentation of resident's participation in activities.
  • Speak in front of large crowds during special events.
  • Organize activity in event of a cancelled event.
  • NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Fill bird feeders for residents
  • Give manicures to women residents.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Informs various staff of any upsetting event involving a resident.
  • RESPONSIBILITY AND DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY:
  • Possess ability to organize and implement planned activities as established by the Life Enrichment Coordinator.
  • Possess ability to respond to sudden changes in carrying out the activity.
  • Possess ability to make independent decisions in absence of supervisor.
  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • High school graduate preferred.
  • Ability to pass activity certification program.
  • Willing to increase training through in-services in and outside facility.

  • SPECIFICATIONS - MENTAL/PHYSICAL:
  • Able to read, write, and speak English
  • Able to respond to sudden changes in planning activities or resident health.
  • Able to cope with mental and emotional stress of position.
  • Able to relate to the elderly.
  • Able to relate to residents with Alzheimer's/Dementia
  • Able to push, pull, and lift properly.
  • RELATIONS WITH OTHERS:
  • Maintains cordial relations with residents and their families.
  • Communicates clearly and maintains a cooperative spirit with staff.
  • LEARNING PERIOD REQUIRED:
  • Ninety (90) day probationary period.
