Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The Life Enrichment Assistant contributes to the wellbeing of Tabithas Seniors/clients/residents (hereinafter Seniors/clients) by heading up programs of Life Enrichment which provide stimulation or solace; promote each Senior/clients self-respect, self-expression, personal responsibility and choice. The Life Enrichment Assistant encourages Seniors/clients to exercise their abilities through physical, intellectual, social, spiritual and emotional challenges. This position provides assistance and positive feedback to the CNAs. TEAMember will complete other assignments as directed by their supervisor. Each of these areas is vitally important to Tabithas ability to meet the goal of providing optimum care to Tabithas Seniors/clients. This TEAMember strives to uphold Tabithas LIVE2Care Culture and actively embraces Tabithas Core Values. As a result, the TEAmember supports Tabitha goals related to dignity, respect, independence, competence, autonomy, personal comfort, safety and security of Seniors/clients. In addition, the TEAMember contributes to the success of Tabitha through ongoing collaboration with, coworkers, management, volunteers and others in the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Initiates one-to-one contact with Seniors/clients to develop relationships and assess mental, physical and emotional status.
  • Plans, develops, organizes and implements group and individual Life Enrichment for Seniors/clients to exercise their abilities through physical, intellectual, social, spiritual, and emotional challenges.
  • Plans, develops, organizes and implements individualized Life Enrichment activities which meet needs identified and that are based on past interests, current abilities, and any assessed new interests of the Senior/client.
  • Assists Senior/clients to and from Life Enrichment as needed.
  • Develops new tools to better meet the Seniors/clients and TEAMember needs to aide in the success of Life Enrichment.
  • Communicates effectively with Seniors/clients, families, TEAMembers and support services to achieve elder/client goals and meet service expectations.
  • Develops Life Enrichment which utilizes community resources.

Qualifications:

COMMUNICATION: Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language including terminology related to the job. Sufficient fluency to be able to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; provide instruction to others; read and understand a plan of care or service plan, policies, procedures or other similar documentation; interact successfully with elders/clients/caregivers; hold a conversation, conduct or participate in meetings; compose professional e-mails or other written communication; prepare legible, accurate and thorough documentation as required by the job; and interact with coworkers, customers, vendors, volunteers, managers and family members. Ability to recognize and interpret non-verbal cues. Ability to respond calmly and clearly to emergencies and emotional situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to gain access to the work area and then safely perform the duties of the job while utilizing standard and specialized equipment, including but not limited to the equipment described below. Physical Life Enrichment is required including physical participation in Life Enrichment( i.e. walking, stooping, crouching, standing for long periods of time, etc.) as well as carrying equipment and assisting residents to and from Life Enrichment. May involved working with persons with special needs, i.e. illness, disabilities, upset emotions, and at times, hostility. Is subject to frequent interruptions. Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction). Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability and pass a 50 - pound physical exam demonstrating strength and agility prior to employment and at Tabithas discretion.

AGE REQUIREMENT: At least age 18.

EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Human Development, Gerontology, or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of six months experience working with elders.

CREDENTIALS: Valid Nebraska Drivers license (unless otherwise allowed by law) and a good driving record required. Must possess auto insurance at or above Nebraska statutory requirements. Must meet Tabitha's vaccination requirements
