Keep reading.Lifeguards monitor activities in swimming areas to prevent accidents and provide assistance to swimmers by performing the following duties:ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following, other duties may be assigned):Guest safety is the most important concern of the lifeguard. All lifeguards should do everything possible to maintain an accident-free environment by watching for potential problems proactively.Every lifeguard has the responsibility of covering their assigned zone using the 10/20 scanning rule. This means that the lifeguard has 10 seconds to recognize a problem within their zone and 20 seconds to respond to and reach that problem.Monitoring and maintaining control over queue areas and slide towers.Ensuring that the waterpark is clean and free from trash.Performing daily opening and closing duties as assigned.Supervising and providing surveillance of swimmers and guests during park hours and special events.Enforcing the rules and regulations and rendering appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.Advising aquatics management of unsafe and unsanitary conditions.Possessing a general knowledge of the activity pools and flume attractions.Assisting guests in a polite and expedient manner.Performing daily routine chores and maintenance of the waterpark to ensure a neat and orderly appearance.Handling and communicating with guests on a one-on-one basis in a professional, courteous manner.Maintaining a businesslike atmosphere in the Guard area at all times.Maintaining a clean and neat appearance and professional conduct at all times.SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTSMust obtain certification in First Aid, CPR, and NPWLTP.Must pass Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Training.Must be comfortable in water and able to swim 50 yards.Must be able to recover a 10-pound brick from 4 feet of water.Must be 16 years of age.Must have full availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.WHY WORK AT JAY PEAK?We're a team of good-natured folks at the heart and soul of a growing resort community.
