Lifeguard Supervisor. Candidate must have great customer service skills, show good judgement, and be comfortable supervising a staff of 10 to 20 lifeguards and pool attendants.
Purpose
The primary responsibilities will include addressing questions/comments/concerns of pool patrons, overseeing a staff of up to 10 lifeguards and pool attendants, as well as additional aspects of the daily operation of our pool area in compliance with local and State Health Department code. Expected to work some weekends and holidays.
This person will need to be able to solve on-the-job issues by utilizing effective critical thinking and decision-making skills and possess the ability to work with diverse populations. The Lifeguard Supervisor must be able to enforce pool policies and safety rules.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree or higher
* Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire.
* Current accredited Lifeguarding Certification or the ability to obtain the certification at the time of hire.
* Candidate must have prior staff management experience.
* Candidate must have prior leadership experience at an aquatic facility.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
Supervises pool staff. Ensures that all staff members are performing their assigned duties safely and professionally. Keeps staff focused on member safety and takes disciplinary action if needed. Understands and Enforces the Employee No Cell Phone Policy
Welcomes and interacts with pool patrons in a polite and professional manner. This may include answering questions, addressing concerns, and/or resolving disputes. Supervises pool staff. Ensures that all staff members are performing their assigned duties safely and professionally. Keeps staff focused on member safety and takes disciplinary action if needed. Understands and Enforces the No Cell Phone On Deck Policy
In times when the facility is less busy resulting from rainy weather, supervisor needs to be able to adjust schedule down.
Assists pool attendants at front gate as needed.
Ensures that the facility and operations are in compliance with New York State Sanitary Code, subpart 6-1 for Swimming Pools, specifically as it pertains to operation, supervision and maintenance.
Enforce safety policies and rules among lifeguards, members, and guests.
Administer First Aid, CPR and other emergency and safety procedures, as required.
Ensures all required records and reports are maintained (including hourly pool chemistry logs, accident/incident reports, first-aid reports, etc.)
Provides regular updates to Pool Manager.
Assists Aquatic Director with additional responsibilities as needed.
Duration:
Seasonal. Pool season begins in May and lasts through September. Employee will be eligible for rehire in subsequent seasons upon satisfactory completion of job responsibilities as determined by Pool Manager.
Pay rate: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour; commensurate with experience. Weekend Work
