Hourly Wage:New Hire: $21.24 • 90 days: $22.28 • 1 year: $23.44 • 2 years: $24.72 • 3 years: $26.10About LIFTS Dispatcher: Responsible for receiving transportation requests, preparing driver daily schedules, and dispatching a fleet of vans and buses for the purpose of transporting elderly, individuals with a disability, and other passengers. May perform substitute driving duties as needed. Work is performed under immediate supervision. Knows the County's Customer-Centered Culture principles, the County's Mission, Strategic Plan and Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to customer satisfaction for all customers on a regular basis. Essential Functions
- Receives telephone requests for service and enters data into software system.
- Assigns routes and schedules to drivers and assigns vehicles to drivers based on route loads.
- Dispatches vans and buses via two-way radio system.
- Dispatches road calls to in-house and outside service vehicles.
- Maintains records necessary for operation.
- Controls daily schedule via computer system, radio, and telephone.
- Drives a minimum of one (1) day per month to maintain familiarity with routes and serves as backup driver as needed.
- Assists in area evacuations/emergencies under Emergency Management Agency (EMA) command.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Knows the products they personally produce and the customers of each product. Listens to the Voice of the Customer and closes gaps between customer expectations and experience whenever possible.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One (1) year of experience in paid driving, customer service, or human services. Experience driving trucks/vans/buses strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of geographical areas of Linn County.
- Ability to communicate courteously and professionally with the public and staff.
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Ability to read street and road maps.
- Ability to operate a variety of equipment and machines, including a computer, two?way radio, telephone, copy machine, mobile data computer, and common office equipment.
- Ability to dispatch and monitor the activities of several vehicles/drivers simultaneously, while maintaining professional control.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and accurately perform duties.
- Ability to make critical decisions in emergency situations, remaining calm and in control.
- Ability to carry parcels, assist wheelchairs up ramps and transfer passengers from wheelchairs to other seating.
- Skill in the operation of buses safely on urban streets and rural roads.
