REPORTS TO: Lighthouse Site Supervisor

SCHEDULE: Saturday-Sunday (7:00am-3:30pm)

LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA

STATUS: Part-Time, 16 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt

CELL PHONE: Reimbursement for use

DRIVER POSITION: Yes [ If yes, see driving policy below]

SALARY RANGE: $21.00-$22.00/hr

ABOUT US:

Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is the leading service provider for youth experiencing or at-risk of homelessness in West Los Angeles. Founded in 2011, our agency offers trauma-informed, low barrier programs that support young people in exiting the streets and achieving stability so that they can thrive, not just survive.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Resident Coordinator works out of the Lighthouse Transitional Living Program in West Los Angeles. Lighthouse TLP is a housing first low-barrier, high tolerance program providing housing and comprehensive services to youth ages 18-24 who are experiencing housing instability. The Resident Coordinator is responsible for oversight and safety of the property and residents, including monitoring cleanliness, carrying out safety protocols, responding to crises, managing conflicts, and promoting holistic wellness.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Daily site and overall property inspections to maintain curbside appeal and resident safety.
  • Maintain inventory and storage of program supplies.
  • Assist with program intakes and exits.
  • Coordinate and assist with food and meal support.
  • Report issues concerning resident health and safety.
  • Interact and build relationships with residents.
  • Facilitate activities, events, and workshops for residents.
  • Provide resources to support residents.
  • Collaborate with community partners for workshops.
  • Assist in the preparation of required program reports.
  • Drive to transport residents to services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience providing direct services to high-risk transitional age youth (TAY).
  • Experience accessing social services is a plus.
  • Knowledge of best practice models.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid California driver's license and auto insurance.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.
  • Physical effort/lifting up to 15-20 pounds.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is a ‘mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: Effective August 9, 2021, all workers in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination.

Driver Positions: Applicants must provide a copy of their driving record and valid driver's license.

NOTE: All staff members will be considered introductory employees for the first three months of employment.
