The Lineman First Class is accountable for ensuring that electric services for the Cooperative are safely and efficiently maintained for all members. Responsibilities include training and mentoring members of service crew teams to safely perform work, leading and directing service crews with constructing, repairing, and maintaining the Cooperative's electrical distribution infrastructure, and ensuring all equipment is maintained while exemplifying safe work practices for all electrical personnel.First Class Lineman are required to complete training and demonstrate competency in tasks outlined in the Cooperative's Lineman Progression Program in order to obtain certification from the Department of Labor.Essential Job DutiesElectrical Services
- Perform all required duties, both on the ground and overhead, involving construction, maintenance, and repair operations under energized line conditions including but not limited to poles, transformers, and transmission and distribution lines
- Train and mentor those in Lineman positions of Second and Third class
and Apprentice positions
- Lead and delegate service and work order tasks to crew as required
- Ensure required documents for service and work orders, staking sheets, and other documents are completed and have all required signatures
- Provide support for all major and non-major outages
- Assemble, inspect, and load the necessary materials for all assignments
- Complete inspection and servicing tasks to ensure that trucks, tools, and equipment are properly used and maintained in good working order
- Proactively identify and resolve issues as quickly and safely as possible
Training and Development
- Train and mentor those in Lineman positions of Second Class, Third Class, and Apprentice positions
- Lead and delegate service and work order tasks to crew as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and materials
- Proficient in the use of tools and equipment used in line work

Qualifications and RequirementsEducation
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- First Aid and CPR Certification
- Pole Top Rescue Certification
- Bucket Rescue Certification
Experience
- 5-10 years of experience in electric line construction and maintenance
Additional Requirements
- Valid Texas Driver's License and Related Insurance
- Must pass background, drug screening and physical
- CDL Class A

The work environment is primarily in an outdoor setting in all weather conditions, with a focus on electrical installation and maintenance. The position requires working at heights, traveling to different job sites, and exposure to noise, vibration, glare, moving objects, slippery surfaces, congested areas, fumes/vapors/gasses, electromagnetic fields, high voltage electricity, and risk of serious injury or death. Tobacco free environment.Physical RequirementsThe physical requirements for this position involve a consistent ability to stand and perform a variety of reaching movements, including chest to shoulder and below chest level. Additionally, the ability to perform elbow flexion and extension, wrist flexion and extension, wrist rotation, neck-forward bending and flexion, backward bending, twisting, turning, tilting, and kneeling is necessary. The role also requires frequent driving, bending forward, twisting, reaching-above shoulder, crouching and squatting, climbing, and foot/pedal action. Occasionally this position may also involve bending backward, reaching-behind body, and jumping. These requirements align with the typical physical duties involved in this role, such as working on electrical equipment and power lines, which requires strength, flexibility, and dexterity. Must be able to lift 50lbs.
