About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity for a Litigation Counsel to join a prominent national real estate development and management company based in Great Neck, NY. The Litigation Counsel will work in conjunction with the Legal Team to handle administrative, legal, and compliance for commercial and residential leasing.

Our client is a national commercial and residential owner/developer/management company with over is a family-owned and operated real estate investment and development firm headquartered in New York, since 1979.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of litigation, including risk assessment, strategy development, case management, and resolution.
- Oversee outside counsel, monitor litigation budgets, and ensure effective use of resources.
- Develop and implement strategies to minimize litigation risks and exposure, especially related to real estate management.
- Oversee the review, drafting, and negotiation of complex contracts, including leases, purchase agreements, and service contracts, with a focus on minimizing litigation risks.
- Provide guidance on contract disputes and pre-litigation matters involving real estate assets.
- Lead alternative dispute resolution efforts, including mediation and arbitration, to resolve conflicts efficiently, particularly in real estate-related matters.
- Advise on strategies for settlement negotiations to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Support the board of directors on governance matters, ensuring alignment of litigation strategy with the company's objectives in real estate management.
- Maintain corporate records and oversee compliance with governance policies.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; member in good standing of a state bar.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in litigation, including experience managing complex litigation and overseeing outside counsel.
- Significant experience in real estate management, including property law, leasing, acquisitions, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven track record of providing strategic legal advice in a corporate environment with a focus on real estate.
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate governance related to real estate.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, handle multiple priorities, and manage high-stakes litigation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous in-house counsel experience or experience in a similar general counsel role with a commercial real estate focus.
Compensation:
Salary starting at $120,000
