Summary:

The Litigation Support Specialist is a detail-oriented and proactive professional who plays a vital role on the legal team. This position ensures seamless coordination between the legal and risk management departments while facilitating smooth interactions with internal and external stakeholders. This role is responsible for managing insurance-related litigation, collaborating with in-house and outside counsel, and ensuring compliance with essential legal processes such as discovery and interrogatories. Additionally, it supports vendor insurance and contract compliance, ensuring agreements align with organizational standards and mitigate risks.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, excels at balancing multiple priorities, and thrives in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This position is pivotal in enhancing processes and supporting the organization's commitment to compliance, operational excellence, and risk management.

Essential Duties:

Lawsuit Management

  • Assign lawsuits to external counsel and ensure timely communication among legal, risk management, operations, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor the status of ongoing litigation and update internal teams on key developments and timelines.
  • Provide administrative support for insurance claims and litigation, including scheduling, documentation, reporting, and processing legal invoice payments.

Discovery and Legal Compliance

  • Collaborate with in-house and outside counsel to coordinate and respond to discovery requests, interrogatories, and other legal inquiries.
  • Oversee the issuance, delivery, and tracking of legal holds to ensure the preservation of all relevant data.
  • Maintain accurate records of case files, correspondence, and legal proceedings to ensure comprehensive documentation.

Contracts, Certificate of Insurance Review, and Legal Notifications

  • Manage the issuance and documentation of releases, as well as the delivery and compliance of legal notices to residents.
  • Support the legal team with contract review to ensure alignment with company policies.
  • Review certificates of insurance (COIs) to verify vendor insurance compliance with contractual requirements and facilitate COI waivers when applicable.

Technology Integration

  • Assist in implementing a new Risk Management Information System (RMIS), working with the Risk Management and Legal teams to ensure seamless integration, data migration, and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Support the rollout of a new vendor management system by coordinating tasks related to contracts, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and certificates of insurance (COIs).

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Four-year college degree and/or litigation paralegal experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in legal support, focusing on litigation, insurance claims, or risk management.
  • Familiarity with COI review, contract management, and discovery processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and legal management software.

Salary range: $65,000-$75,000/yrIf you are hired at Morgan Properties, your overall compensation package will also be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
