Livestock Worker/Ranch Hand - Moser Farms : Job Details

Need 2 full-time, temporary, seasonal Livestock Workers/Ranch Hands to work in McGrath, MN. From: 12/14/2024 to 03/31/2025; 8:00am-5:00pm. Work: Mon.-Sat. 8hrs./day: 48 hrs./week. Hours worked in excess of 48 hours in a work week will be paid at the rate of time and a half. Effective Jan 1, 2024, per MN State Statute, an employee will earn one hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to at least 48 hours of accrued Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) per year, provided the employee works a minimum of 80 hours in a calendar year. JOB DUTIES: Workers will perform any of the following tasks to attend to cattle on farm in a feedlot operation: Monitor all aspects of the feedlot operation including the daily inspection of all waterers and any maintenance needed on the facility itself; mix feed and additives; fill feed troughs with feed and water for livestock and remove ice formed in water; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; vaccinate animals by placing vaccine in drinking water or feed, using syringes and hypodermic needles; apply medications to cuts and bruises; spray livestock with insecticide; bind or clamp testes or surgically remove testes to castrate livestock; clip identifying notches or symbols on animal, or brand animal using branding iron, to indicate ownership; routine maintenance on all equipment used in the feedlot including pay loader, tractor, mixer wagon, and bale processor; Maintain breeding, feeding and costs records. Worker will also help with the shipping and receiving of cattle as well as hauling the feed to the cattle; clean livestock stalls and sheds using disinfectant solutions, brushes and shovels; drive to town to pick up feed; clean pens which includes the hauling and spreading of manure on our farm. JOB REQUIREMENTS: 3 months experience, able to lift 50 lbs.; able to perform work that requires exposure to extreme temperatures, extensive pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, frequent stooping, and repetitive movements; no minimum education requirement. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of at least $15.88 per day during travel to a maximum of $59.00 per day with receipts.
