POSITION SUMMARYThrough reviews and monitoring, the Loan Review Officer provides an independent assessment of credit risk and the effectiveness of credit processes across the bank, identifies existing and emerging risks, and reports its findings to various stakeholders.This includes assessing the level of repayment risk of borrowers, assessing the accuracy of the assigned risk ratings, and providing data for management to understand the overall quality of the loan portfolios.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide an independent assessment of credit risk of the loan portfolios to provide to management, the Board/Board Committees, external auditors and regulatory agencies by performing loan reviews to assess adherence to credit policies, procedures and banking regulations.
  • Lead and manage examinations of various credit portfolios and credit processes and prepare final reports.
  • Verify the accuracy of the assigned internal credit risk ratings, repayment risk of borrowers, loan weaknesses, and inadequate credit/collateral documentation.
  • Identify and exposures that are outside of the bank's lending limits, risk appetite, or are not consistent with prudent lending standards.
  • Identify and recommend process changes related to credit risk management activities, regulatory statutes, credit policy and general credit underwriting guidelines.
  • Evaluate the bank's credit policy to verify proper credit controls are in place to appropriately manage credit risk and monitor adherence to such policies by evaluating exceptions.
  • Prepare reports and reviews as requested by management.
  • Maintain expertise on the current regulatory/industry trends impacting the industry.
  • Assist the Risk team with special projects.
  • Adhere to high ethical standards and comply with all policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Assist with training and operational duties as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES OR DETAILSESSENTIAL SKILLS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • 10 years of related work experience.
  • Commercial credit analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to adjust to change and a willingness to be a team player.
  • Maintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to exercise judgment and make decisions within scope of authority.
  • Ability to solve problems using combination of intuition and analytics.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and to follow procedures.
  • Proficiency in basic computer software applications, including Excel and Word.

  • This position must be able to sit for long periods of time as the position involves most of the time spent at a computer.
  • This position requires little to no travel.
