**Job Title:** OBGYN Laborist**Job Specialty:** Obstetrics and Gynecology**Job Duration:** 32 weeks**Shift:** - 9/20 – 7a-7a- 9/21 – 7a-7p- 9/21 – 7p-7a- 9/20 – 7a-7a- 9/21 – 7a-7p- 9/21 – 7p-7a**Guaranteed Hours:** Not specified**Experience:** Minimum 5 years of OB experience required**License:** Not specified**Certifications:** National Certification Center fetal heart monitoring certification preferred**Must-Have:** Availability to work at women's hospitals**Job Description:**- Provide consultations on all obstetric patients in the Emergency Department or hospital-owned clinics when requested.- Coordinate transport of acute or critically ill obstetric patients to or from other facilities as necessary.- Provide surgical assist services to hospital obstetrics/gynecology physicians.- Cover the hospital's obstetrical triage unit, evaluating patients with acute symptoms or signs of labor.- Stay actively aware of all patients in various units, responding to emergencies promptly.- Evaluate and manage unassigned obstetrical and gynecology patients who present with unscheduled visits, from admission to discharge.- Deliver patients and respond to emergencies when assigned community obstetricians/physicians cannot attend timely.- Assume care and manage MFM patients as clinically indicated, and assist with complicated deliveries.- Document in the electronic medical record promptly.- Conduct history and physical exams on all unassigned patients admitted.- Provide consultative support for obstetrical and gynecology patients throughout the hospital.- Partner with nursing staff to ensure operational efficiency.- Engage in departmental quality improvement activities and assist hospitals in compliance with accreditation standards.- Support hospital coordination and scheduling of cesarean sections and other obstetrics/gynecology procedures.- Maintain proficiency in fetal heart monitoring, including regular training.- Participate in departmental and program meetings, and contribute to systems improvement and service excellence initiatives.- Engage in activities to improve patient and provider satisfaction, and adhere to medical staff rules and hospital protocols.- Participate in quality initiatives and conduct oneself in a manner consistent with the hospital's mission and values.
