The Logistics & Warehouse Supervisor coordinates all shipping in and out of the facility, supervising and directing warehouse receiving/shipping activities in accordance with mandated sanitary regulations, current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMPs) and established company procedures. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. certification required. College degree in business or management preferred. Experience: Five years stable work history in areas such as agriculture, production, or manufacturing preferred. Supervisory experience and two years of experience within a food processing plant as a logistics/warehouse preferred. JOB DUTIES: Supervisory Duties:
- Responsible for on-site and off-site Warehouse functions
- Coordinate shipping and receiving area workflow which includes all tasks and appropriate documentation of the following: Receiving / Unloading; Shipment preparation; Movement of all inventory to and from storage locations; Warehousing / on-site storage / off-site storage / distribution
- Promote and ensure employees adhere to all established company policies and procedures including safety training, all mandated sanitary policies and regulations. Conduct and provide additional training for logistics/warehouse personnel as needed.
- Ensure all employees are properly trained and safely using all forklifts/pallet jacks/equipment.
- Ensure fundamental food safety and quality practices maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support the development, implementation and maintenance and ongoing improvements of food safety programs.
- Offer management input for hiring logistics/warehouse personnel and assist with work performance evaluations.
- Participate in and conduct regularly scheduled departmental meetings to enhance safety and communication throughout the plant and across all shifts.
- Assist in the discipline of logistics/warehouse employees according to company policies and procedures.
Operational Duties:
- Communicate regularly with Sales, Production, Logistics, and Quality departments regarding scheduling of product shipment, product availability, and supplies.
- Troubleshoot warehouse flow and processes including: Assist maintenance / utility personnel with repairs on equipment, machinery breakdowns or notify appropriate personnel to coordinate outside report services; ensure flow of shipments as scheduled, redirecting employees to areas of the process needing immediate attention or support.
- Conduct periodic inventory audits to be sure product is in the correct location.
- Operate company vehicle as required and forklifts and pallet jacks as needed.
- Maintain a clean shipping/warehouse area for safe working conditions.
- Update systems with product movement information for efficient operation of the warehouse.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: - Able to travel to off-site storage facilities.
- Specific knowledge of industrial warehouse/shipping processes, in an edible or non-edible food processing plant.
- Responsible to assure the products manufactured are stored in the warehouse and leave the warehouse in the same condition they arrived.
- Must be able to distinguish if food safety violations or product quality issues occur and resolve immediately or, if unable to resolve immediately, contact appropriate plant management (i.e. the Production Manager and/or the Quality Manager).
- Ensure responsibilities and tasks are accounted for in Logistics/Warehouse in the event of absences.
- Operate and train personnel on equipment and machinery used in the processing of product.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality related to all duties and responsibilities.
- Monitor the shipping processes, anticipate production concerns, and make effective decisions while striving for continuity of the warehousing process.
- Analyze, forecast, and plan shipping objectives.
- Remain calm and professional at all times.
- Perform basic and complex mathematical calculations.
- Work daily and overtime as necessary.
- Assist in other work-related areas as requested.
- Work in a team environment and implement continuous improvement.
- Ability to communicate/collaborate with other plant personnel to assure efficient timely shipments.
- Ability to work effectively with direct reports; train, monitor and evaluate employees to assure proper storage, shipping and receiving of products within the warehouse department.
- Knowledge of computers and ability in preparing reports and spreadsheets.
