This role serves as the liaison between carriers and internal teams to monitor shipments, resolve issues, and maintain operational efficiency. This person will ensure efficient dispatching, monitor routes, and provide top-notch service while also being flexible to step behind the wheel to meet operational demands. The Logistics Coordinator ensures compliance with DOT regulations, company policies, and supports continuous process improvement within company logistics. Additionally, the Logistics Coordinator oversees fleet management in their respective office, ensuring vehicles are properly maintained, scheduled, and utilized efficiently. This includes coordinating vehicle repairs, maintaining vehicle appearance, managing driver schedules, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and transportation regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise full-time and part-time drivers including scheduling and dispatching.
- Maintain Vehicle Maintenance logs and inspections.
- Maintain company vehicle use and trucking schedules in EasyJob.
- Oversee FTL & LTL shipments using company drivers and outside carriers.
- Drive company vehicles to deliver equipment as needed.
- Follow all FMCSA safety regulations.
- Perform vehicle inspections and report issues to the Logistics Manager.
- Report incidents and accidents to supervisor and fill out vehicle incident or accident reports. Document incident scenes.
- Assist with fueling, maintenance, and cleaning of vehicles as directed.
- Maintain a positive attitude when dealing with clients and co-workers.
- Coordinate logistics needs with the Site Manager and warehouse staff.
- Ensure drivers and vehicles have the documentation & safety items necessary
- Complete Daily Driver's logs when required.
Competencies:
- Must be punctual and dependable.
- Ability to learn EasyJob, Q360, and Outlook.
- Proficient in the handling of box trucks and tractor-trailers in tight spaces, especially backing and docking.
- Read and interpret documents in English, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, BOL's etc.
- Maintains alertness at work and prioritizes safety.
- Accurately gauge lengths of time and distance.
- Able to quickly store and recall instructions.
- Can cope with sudden changes in surroundings and/or emergency situations and/or alarms.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
QualificationsSkills and Qualifications:
- Two (2) years Class A CDL driving experience.
- Valid Driver's License and clean driving record - No DUI/DWI convictions in the last 5 years.
- Meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Department of transportation.
- Pass a comprehensive Background Check, DOT physical and Drug Screen.
- Able to provide current Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- No endorsements required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Working Conditions:
- Regularly bend, twist, stretch, push, pull and carry, lift 50-75 lbs.
- Sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Walk up and down stairs or ladders and comfortable with heights.
- Work in various temperatures and outdoor weather conditions.
- Work on-call as needed including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Work long hours and overtime as required.
- Able to Travel (possibly with short notice).
