Through dynamic programming and exhibitions, and through the acquisition and preservation of literary and artistic artifacts, the Penn Libraries documents a wealth of social and historical periods, bringing scholarship to life at the University and in the various communities it serves.

Job Description Summary

Reporting to the Goldstein Director of the Information Processing Center and the Library Research Annex (LIBRA), the Head of LIBRA will oversee the operation of the Penn Libraries Research Annex (LIBRA) remote storage facility in West Deptford, NJ. The Head of LIBRA is responsible for all aspects of LIBRA facilities, operations, and services including, inventory management, recruitment, training, and supervision of staff at LIBRA; facilities infrastructure; effective deployment of computer hardware and software; coordination of intake and delivery of materials between LIBRA, main campus, and partner libraries; managing resource sharing operations as a supplier for the Borrow Direct, E-ZBorrow, Rapid, and ILL services. The Head of LIBRA will also be responsible for ensuring the fulfillment of service agreements with partner institutions and representing those services to prospective partners. The Head of LIBRA works closely with Penn Libraries staff from Access Services, Collections, Penn Library departments and centers, and partner libraries in coordinating the efficient transfer of material to and from LIBRA.

Job Responsibilities

+ Manage all facility, logistical, public & technical services operations of the Penn Libraries Research Annex (LIBRA).

+ Supervise & direct LIBRA staff.

+ Develop and document streamlined and efficient workflows to make best use of resources in all areas of operations.

+ Maintain an accurate inventory of material at LIBRA.

+ Liaise with partner libraries to ensure needs are met.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's degree and 3 to 5 years of experience in logistics or warehouse management.

+ Demonstrated excellence in communication.

+ Exceptional customer service abilities.

+ Proven ability in managing complex workflows.

+ Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to set and achieve productivity and efficiency goals.

+ Experience in resource management and operational assessment.

+ Managerial experience in a bargaining unit environment.

+ Familiarity with library inventory management software, preferred.

+ Cataloging experience and familiarity with bibliographic data management, preferred.

+ OSHA certification, preferred.
