THE OPPORTUNITYThe Primient Supply Chain is a lean, Six Sigma operation that acts as the lifeblood of our business. It is an exciting time to be part of a team that is driving continuous improvement built on proven best practice. This role works in a high-performing Rail Operations team managing a fleet of railcars to ensure availability of cars at our plants, on-time delivery of product to customers, and timely payment of freight invoices. Primient operates one of the larger private fleets of railcars in the United States across three major commodities and car types. The Rail Fleet Analyst will be responsible for one of our core fleets: Sweetener, Starch or Commodities. They work closely with Primient sales, customer service, production planning, operations, procurement, external rail service providers and customers to ensure perfectly executed orders and enable our production plans. The role reports to the Rail Operations Manager and is based at Decatur, Illinois. We currently utilize a hybrid work schedule, working three days per week in the office and two days per week from home. The position requires minimal travel of less than 5%.
Key responsibilities: Rail Analyst- Manage empty pipeline of railcars by preparing daily position reports, analyzing dwell reports and proactively diverting cars to ensure sufficient supply of cars to our plants.
- Monitor deliveries, expedite cars and resolve recurring service issues to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
- Manage accounts with rail providers to ensure timely payment of invoices including review and approve/dispute of railroad balance dues, rejected loads, empty car moves, rebills, etc.
- Support Procurement by developing rail routes for new lanes, ensuring rail freight contracts are met and identifying/completing any refund requests.
- Resolve any exceptions in billing, tracking or costing in SAP, Railtrac or OTM systems.
ABOUT YOU- Rail fleet management or Rail freight experience is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Strong computer skills including Excel, Logistics Software, SAP
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to effectively solve problems.
- Effective analytical skills
