Position Type: FACILITIES/DELIVERY DRIVERDate Posted: 12/10/2024Location: Operations: FacilitiesPOSITION SUMMARY The Logistics Technician operates commercial trucks to deliver district mail, furniture, equipment, textbooks, and instructional items to and from schools and APS facilities. Performs a variety of tasks in the receipt of furniture and equipment, food, textbooks, instructional items, and material shipments. Processes warehouse orders, distributes centralized shipments and operates electronic devices to input inventory items into the Automated Inventory Management (AiM) System. Operates warehouse equipment to receive, store and retrieve inventory items, and removes district obsolete and damaged inventory. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Maintains clean, safe, hazard free warehouse facility, equipment and trucks. Sorts and batches mail, packages, materials and furniture items for delivery to schools and departments. Identifies furniture and equipment items for surplus usage, obsolete, auction, and disposal for district accountability process. Prepares route schedules, loads and operates commercial cargo truck in a safe and defensive manner to deliver goods to and from designations. Operates various office and electronics devices including computers, copiers, printers, scanners, computer tablets, and bar coding equipment. Adds and removes warehouse inventory into AiM (Automated Inventory Management) System. Receives and verifies the receipt of district centralized shipments for distribution to schools and departments. Operates warehouse equipment in a safe manner to expedite materials and equipment movement in and out of warehouse. Generates reports for excessive surplus, obsolete, and damaged items for district removal and disposal processes. Processes warehouse orders for food distribution and monitors storage areas for storage capacity, safety and security compliance as needed. Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Experience driving large commercial vehicles. Outstanding written and oral communication skills. Good listening skills. Strong decision making skills. Strong math aptitude and technology experience. Mobile 2-way radio communication skills. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED required. CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Valid Georgia driver's license and availability of private transportation. Forklift Certification required. WORK EXPERIENCE: 3 years of related experience including 2 years of experience driving commercial trucks. Strength: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, gripping, feeling, seeing/observing and carrying. Must exert over 100 pounds of force occasionally, over 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or over 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; Regular exposure to weather, including heat, cold, dampness, and/or humidity. Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records. Understand how to manage stress Additional Work Conditions & Physical Abilities: Will require travel to multiple sites. Extended hours may be required depending on each situation. Must understand and have full knowledge of the occupational hazards in using power tools and equipment and of necessary safety precautions. Requires extensive safety training and/or protective devices.
