Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at our new Comprehensive Outpatient Clinic in Cortland, NY, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, client-centered care to individuals facing opioid use disorder (OUD) and other challenges. Reporting to the RN Team Lead or Nurse Manager and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, the LPN provides compassionate, responsive care, manages medication processes, and supports the holistic health needs of our clients.About Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (C.A.R.S.)An affiliate of Cayuga Health, Cayuga Addiction Recovery Services (C.A.R.S.) has served the community since 1972, offering comprehensive outpatient substance use treatment, including Opioid Treatment Programs in Ithaca and Cortland, and a Men's Residential Rehabilitation Program in Trumansburg. Operating under NYS Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) guidance, C.A.R.S. provides evidence-based, person-centered care and offers a full range of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) options. With ongoing expansions like our Mobile Medication Unit, Women's Residential Program, Crisis Stabilization Program, and Inpatient Detox unit, it's an exciting time to join the C.A.R.S. team and advance your career.Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide nursing care within the full scope of practice, ensuring client safety, dignity, and respect. Support clients physically and emotionally with non-judgmental, person-centered care.
  • Medication Management: Manage and maintain accurate inventory of medical supplies, medications, and controlled substances. Collaborate with the NP for refills, insurance authorizations, and medication-related issues.
  • Diagnostic Support: Collect diagnostic specimens, including toxicology screens, to aid in client assessment and care planning.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate, professional medical records in both electronic and paper formats.
  • Participate in ongoing education to stay current with best practices in addiction recovery and outpatient nursing.
  • Provide occasional coverage at other CARS locations to support clinic operations.
Required Skills and Experience:
  • License: Active New York Nursing license, out of state nurses are still eligible to apply
  • Minimum education: completion of an accredited LPN program
  • Certifications: BLS (new hires have the opportunity to obtain these certifications during introductory period)
Location and Travel Requirements:
  • Primary Location: Cortland Clinic (95%)
  • Occasional coverage at other clinic locations (5%)
Physical:
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (e.g., Use of computer keyboard); may require lifting and carrying light loads (up to 40 lbs), including boxes, equipment, IV solutions and stooping and kneeling (e.g., to pick up items from the floor, to remove and replace items on lower shelves and to file documents in lower file drawers); sitting, walking, or standing for long periods of time may be necessary; must be able physically to operate the equipment used for the job.
Pay Range Disclosure:
  • $24.04 to $28 per hour
