HOURS: .6 FTE

COMPENSATION: Per the Collective Bargaining Agreement located on the DY website.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Maintains appropriate general athlete treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the school's physician and director of athletics.

* Provides athletic training services for all home athletic contests and away football games. If a conflict arises between an away varsity football game and a home contest, the varsity football game will supersede due to the current MIAA Rules governing football.

* Provides athletic training services for all home boys and girls ice hockey games.

* Acts as a liaison between family physician/pediatrician and specialists, the school district, athletes, and their parents.

* Maintains accurate records of injuries and treatments, and fill out insurance claim forms for sports injuries treated by a physician.

* Ensures that all student athletes are signed up appropriately using the family ID program or other online registration software.

* Creates a concussion database and makes sure that all athletes have been baseline concussion tested prior to their first day of practice, and that every athlete has an updated physical.

* Maintain a clean, safe and medically suitable training room. Ensure that all water bottles,water coolers, whirl pool, and training room and clean and suitable for all student-athletes.

* Stock and maintain first aid kits for all in-season coaches.

* Maintain a log of all injuries that occur during the season, fill out all pertinent school forms,and forward them on to the school nurse.

* Develops and cultivates contacts with referring physicians, businesses, schools, coaches and other referral sources.

* Provide athletic training services to Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School student-athletes prior to, during, and after athletic practices and contests, with an emphasis on injury prevention, injury management, and relaying consistent and clear communication to student-athletes, parents, coaching staff, Athletic Director, medical providers, and the high school nurse.

* Use Family ID or similar online platform for registrations: Review and provide digital and hard copy athletic registrations to the nurses and all coaching levels.

* Athletic physical examinations: Communicate with the nurses to ensure that all student-athletes receive an annual sports physical examination from a medical provider.

* Make sure that no athlete practices or plays without the proper registration credentials, baseline concussion test, and proper physical examination.

* Medical Injuries: Document and communicate with student-athletes, coaches, parents, the DYRHS nurses, and the Athletic Director any injuries that may put a student-athlete's medical clearance on hold. Contact the student-athlete's parents to inform them of the injury. Follow-up with the appropriate coach to make sure that an accident report or head injury report has been filed. Assist the student-athlete and his/her parents with what is needed for the athlete to return to participation.

* Provide injury rehab services to help the athlete recover from their injuries and return to play. Develop specific return to play protocols for all athletes and all injuries.

* Provide appropriate educational programs for athletes, coaches, the Athletic Director, and parents. With the following action steps:

* Teach up to 3 CPR/First Aid/AED Certification sessions per year (1) each athletic Season.

* On the night of each season's athletic night, facilitate a NFHS Concussion

* Certification class. Furthermore, review all pertinent emergency protocol and medical information with coaches.

* Educate athletes and parents at each season's athletic night by reviewing medical information, concussion information, and all other Athletic Trainer pertinent information as it relates to high school athletics

* Coordinate providers and prepare for medical emergencies for all teams on campus, as well as coordinate the preparation if an emergency occurs off site. The Athletic Trainer will be the lead person in the athletic department as it relates to AED placement, emergency protocols, and medical/emergency education for coaches.

* Provide budget requests to the Athletic Director to ensure the Athletic Department has all necessary equipment and supplies to support athletic training needs.

* Inventory and maintain all athletic training related equipment and supplies, At the beginning of each season provide every athletic team a fully stocked medical kit and a clean water jug. At the end of each season collect the medical kit and water jug from each team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Must be nationally certified and state licensed. Must also hold a CPR certification to teach CPR.

* Massachusetts PE license grade 5 - 12 and science preferred.

* Citizenship, residency or work visa required
