Job Description- Director of New Store DevelopmentThe Director of New Store Development is responsible for all aspects of management of new store openings in relation to recruitment and training of staff, execution of marketing, and collaboration of departments to ensure successful opening of store(s). This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President of Operations.
  • The Director of New Store Development will, by self or in collaboration; recruit, interview, select, hire, and completes onboarding for staffing needs of a new store.
  • Schedules, facilitates, or conducts training of staff to ensure they are confidently able to perform assigned job duties to ensure a successful store opening and operation.
  • Manages new store sites to ensure Brand and Company standards are being met. Ensures adherence to government regulations, health and safety codes, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Increases operational excellence across the markets and team members by maintaining, developing, or improving processes and procedures.
  • In partnership with Food Services assists in implementation and direction the development of guidelines for guest experience, food safety, product quality, freshness, and facility cleanliness. Ensures appropriate equipment maintenance and sanitation standards are developed and trained.
  • Relays relevant information to members of the team throughout the new build process.
  • Represents the needs of new store operations when assigned to cross-functional project teams. Develops and/or follows project plans to accomplish tasks required for a new store opening.
  • Seeks guidance from appropriate departments regarding all aspects of a new store roll out.
Education and/or Experience

  • Education - bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience within the industry
  • Experience - Two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination and experience. Preferably the candidate will have managed a convenience store.
  • Language Skills - Must have the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business papers, periodicals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Written Communication Skills - Ability to write reports, business correspondence, reports in business correspondence.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and build meaningful internal and external relationships to help drive results.
  • Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or Customers.
  • Mathematical Skills - Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and general business formulas.
  • Reasoning Ability - the ability to solve practical problems with minimal direction. Must have the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • Physical demands - While performing the daily duties Directors are frequently required to sit, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Reach with hands or arms, talk and hear. The Director is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell. The Director must frequently lift or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific Visual Requirements - close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • All Directors must have and maintain a current valid driver's license, as travel is required, along with valid proof of insurance. Driving records will be checked periodically. Vehicles must be maintained and operational at times for safety standards.
  • All Associates must consent to and comply with the Drug Free Workplace Policy.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • The Director of New Store Development is expected to fulfill all required job duties in a timely manner. A level of commitment is expected to ensure that assigned job duties are done properly.
  • Weekly itinerary completed and communicated to the Executive Vice President of Operations by 8:00 a.m. each Monday.
  • All Directors must have and maintain a current valid driver's license, as travel is required, along with valid proof of insurance. Driving records will be checked periodically. Vehicles must be maintained and operational at times for safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
