In joining our industry-leading team, you will contribute to upholding the highest standards of quality in all aspects of our business.Job Summary:This machine operator is responsible for operating the facility's packaging lines.The packaging lines are a critical part of the production process. The Machine Operators must thoroughly understand the operating features of the scales, manual baggers, and heat sealers.All equipment will be maintained at optimum efficiency through a scheduled cleaning routine.The Machine Operator must be trained as both a hopper and sealer.The machine operators are responsible for performing visual inspections on the bags, going through the sealer, and performing weight checks to ensure the correct amount of product is in the bag. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs pre-inspection of their work area before they start production.
  • Operate packaging equipment efficiently and safely.
  • Report all equipment and work area deficiencies to the shift Supervisor or lead.
  • Communicate with the shift Supervisor to ensure the proper product is being packaged in the correct bag.
  • Does a weight check on the finished product every 30 minutes and records this weight on the daily bagging report.
  • Communicate with the supervisor about any situation that may affect the safety of employees or other issues that can affect the production or quality of the product.
  • Performs housekeeping in their area of responsibility and the other regions in the plant when no bagging work is necessary.
  • Perform lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures as required.
  • Carry out additional duties related to the job as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Prior experience with packaging and mobile equipment preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 to 5 years of experience in a production packaging environment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • A high degree of attention is required to prevent injury to others and promote a safe work environment.
  • Must be able to speak and read basic English.
  • Must be able to attend work regularly, as the position requires attendance.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hats, steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hi-visibility apparel, and gloves.
  • Work in varying temperatures and humidity levels; environment includes noise and dust.
  • Perform tasks around moving machinery and energized power cables.
  • Ability to sit, stand for prolonged periods, bend, reach, and move about the facility.
  • Able to pull, push, carry, and lift 50lb.
