Machine operator - Staff on Site : Job Details

Responsibilities • Always maintain a clean and safe working environment. • Perform normal daily maintenance of equipment as well as preventative maintenance as needed. • The safe set-up, operation and shut down of equipment. • The continuous visual and physical inspection using gauges and instruments to verify and ensure every part meets required specifications. • Accurately record all information needed on job card. • Report any known or potential problems or concerns regarding manning, machine or material involved in the process. • Document and initial any changes made during job • Suggest methods or process improvements that will result in less work and/or higher quality. • Maintain Forklift certification requirements • Observe and follow all safety policies and procedures • Uphold ISO and OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities listed above. • Other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor or GM. Duties Set-up to run o Mount and install abrasive wheels o Install guide bars with correct shims o Adjust guides to proper width o Dress abrasives (minimum amount necessary) o Adjust head settings to part type, including top, bottom, front and rear adjustments o Bring heads into grinding position o Get gauge blocks from quality assurance, set gage accordingly o Push piece(s) to get size Running parts o Give full attention to operation of machine o Gage pieces frequently o Visually inspect for unusual marks such as swipes, burns, non-clean ups etc. o Hold parts as close to the mean as possible o Handle parts to avoid any nicking or scratching o Oil and pack parts in containers or boxes as provided This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling and stooping for long periods of time throughout the day. Must repeatedly reach and bend. Must be able to lift 40lbs or more on occasion.
