Job Title: Machine OperatorWork Location: Statesville, NC Position Summary:The Machine Operator at our Statesville location is responsible for various tasks including Batch Making, Machine Operation, and Material Handling. This role plays a vital part in the manufacturing process of paint products. As a Manufacturing Operating Technician, your primary responsibilities involve operating various equipment and machinery to produce and package paint products efficiently.Shift Schedule:
- A Shift (Two-week rotation):
- Week One: Monday to Thursday, 6:00 am - 6:30 pm
- Week Two: Tuesday to Thursday, 6:00 am - 6:30 pm
- Note: Every other Monday may be required
Core Responsibilities and TasksMachine Operator:
- Operate filling and packaging equipment for paint products.
- Connect hoses to pipe systems and open/close valves.
- Drive a forklift for material transport within the plant.
- Load labels, lids, pails, and cartons onto automatic machines.
- Climb ladders and stairs as needed.
- Handle 5-gallon pails of product.
- Complete necessary paperwork.
- Maintain general housekeeping with painting and cleaning equipment.
- Adhere to safety equipment requirements.
Batch Making:
- Follow standard procedures to make batches of paint.
- Add raw materials to mixing tanks.
- Move and handle drums and pails of materials.
- Operate valves and meters.
- Drive a straddle stacker for material transport.
- Complete relevant paperwork.
- Maintain housekeeping and safety equipment, including respirators.
Material Handler:
- Load and unload shipments, verify materials, and stock items.
- Pull, pick, and stage orders based on requirements.
- Operate forklifts and machinery.
- Maintain accurate records of materials and orders.
- Assist with inventory management.
- Ensure a safe and clean working environment.
- Communicate with various departments for efficient operations.
Position Requirements:Formal Education:
- Required: None
- Preferred: High School Diploma or GED
Knowledge & Experience:
- Required: Ability to troubleshoot simple equipment-related problems. Complex issues should be escalated to management.
- Preferred: Knowledge of chemistry and 1 year or more of experience in a manufacturing environment
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50-100 pounds.
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- May work indoors and outdoors, exposed to seasonal temperatures.
- May work in areas with noise, toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials.
- May be exposed to dust and dirt.
- Must tolerate non-toxic paint odors and wear a respirator as required.
- Must operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
Technical/Skill Requirements:
- Required: Verification of customer codes, lot numbers, packaging materials, and raw materials.
- Preferred: Experience with employee direct access systems such as GEMS.
