Description

The responsibility of a Press Operator is to maintain and operate semi-automated production machinery. The goal of a machine operator is to produce defect-free components while keeping up with production schedules, and documenting product results for all components produced daily.

To maintain product quality the operator must be able to read technical drawings, use standard measuring devices, follow production procedures and instructions, and records information as required. If the product being produced is not meeting requirements, the operator should be able to make minor machine adjustments to ensure conformity to requirements.

The operator must maintain machine tools as well as surrounding areas, work well with others and follow directions.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, basic technical drawings, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
