Duties may involve pipe fitting; millwright work; machine repair; welding; fabricating; repairing machines and mechanical equipment; installing, relocating, aligning, and balancing machinery and equipment; and, repairing building facilities. Repairs and maintains mechanical, and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as dial index, linear transfer, computerized numerical control, synchronous and non-synchronous assembly lines, metal fabricating machine tools, material handling systems, and automated lubrication system. Layout, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, and building parts.**Wage is union negotiated: $36/hr.****Qualifications****Essential Functions Statement(s) includes, but is not limited to**+ Trouble shoots machines and equipment to locate defects.+ Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.+ Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems and verify adequacy of repair or maintenance activity.+ Removes and replaces worn or defective parts of drive mechanism or hydraulic systems.+ Realigns and adjusts components such as spindles, gearboxes and clutches.+ Locates damaged air and hydraulic pipes on machine.+ Repairs broken parts.+ Sets up and operates metalworking tools such as lathe, drill press, or grinder, to make minor repair parts.+ Operates Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).+ Assists Manufacturing Engineer to modify sketches or computer generated designs of machine components such as hydraulic system and drive mechanism.+ Identify spare or replacement parts that need to be ordered.+ Move and relocate machinery and equipment.+ Assemble and install equipment such as dials, transfers and automated assembly lines.+ Align machines and equipment in conjunction with approved floor layout.+ Assemble machines and bolt, weld, rivet or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures.+ Operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.+ Operate heavy equipment such as Drott, Eric, etc.+ Selects type and size of pipe, and related materials and equipment, such as supports, hangers according to specifications.+ Inspects work site to determine presence of obstructions and to ascertain that holes cut for pipe will not cause structural weakness. Relocate, when possible, obstruction with supervisors approval.+ Plans installation or repair to avoid obstructions and to avoid interfering with activities of other workers.+ Cuts and threads pipe, make up compressed air, water, gas and chemical hoses.+ Assembles and installs variety of metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fitting, including iron, steel, copper and plastic.+ Operates Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).+ Understands and completes Preventative Maintenance (PM) procedures.+ Connects pipes, using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints.+ Secures pipes to structure with brackets, clamps, and hangers.+ Installs and maintains hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment such as pumps and cylinders.+ Installs and maintains pumps, meters, pneumatic and piping.+ Increases pressure in pipe systems and observes connected pressure gauge to test system for leaks.+ Observes production machines in assigned area of manufacturing facility to detect machinery malfunctions.+ Operates safely all Powered Industrial Equipment in the plant.+ Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.+ Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.+ Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.+ Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.+ Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.+ Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.+ Demonstrates the skillful ability to cut with a torch.+ Perform electrical assignments that can be accomplished with present skills in a safe manner.+ Follows all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures as directed by the company.+ Cleans and maintains work area and equipment.+ Transfers out of classification, as required by supervisor and permitted in contract, to assist or perform other qualified trades, or to be trained.+ Supports quality system as required.+ Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.+ Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.+ Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.+ Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.+ Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.+ Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.+ Repair or replace defective equipment parts.+ Dismantle equipment to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.+ Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.+ Align and balance new equipment after installation.+ Estimate repair costs.**POSITION QUALIFICATIONS**+ Accountability - Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.+ Accuracy - Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.+ Detail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.+ Organized - Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.+ Reliability - The trait of being dependable and trustworthy.+ Responsible - Ability to be held accountable or answerable for one's conduct.+ Safety Awareness - Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.+ Active Listening - Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.+ Communication, Oral - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word.+ Working Under Pressure - Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations**SKILLS & ABILITIES****Education :** High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED); diploma from college or trade school a plus. Military training and certification in any of the three primary skilled trades is a plus.**Experience :** Two to four years related experience.**Computer Skills**Basic computer literacy for Microsoft Office software is preferred.**Certificates & Licenses**Journey-person certification of classroom and on -the-job training completion from either the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training under the US Dept. of Labor, a skilled trades card issued by the UAW, and/or a technical degree from a college or vocational trade school in pipe-fitting, machine repair, or millwright work.**Other Requirements**The proven ability to learn, develop and successfully apply the skills and competencies of the three primary skill trades: pipe-fitting, machine repair and millwright.**Additional Information**All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
