Job Title: Embroidery Technician

Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Embroidery Technician to join our team in Comstock Park, Michigan. As a key player in our operations, you'll be the expert in embroidery machinery, maintaining, troubleshooting, and ensuring peak performance of industrial embroidery machines across our 235,000 square foot facility. You'll work with cutting-edge machinery, including multihead and stretch machines, and collaborate with IT teams to identify technical issues. Your expertise will ensure smooth operations and optimal production, while also mentoring others on best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Maintain and repair embroidery equipment, including multihead and stretch machines. Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and IT-related issues, and differentiate between machine and IT problems.
- Collaboration with IT & Manufacturers: Serve as the primary point of contact for IT and machine manufacturers, including escalating technical issues as needed. Call the manufacturer for assistance or troubleshooting when necessary.
- Preventative Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance, ensuring all machinery operates smoothly and efficiently.
- Training & Mentoring: Teach industry best practices to embroidery operators, ensuring optimal performance and high-quality production. Be a resource for troubleshooting and training new team members.
- Best Practices: Work with leadership to enforce industry best practices, with a focus on improving efficiency and minimizing downtime.
- Recordkeeping & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and machine performance.
- Travel for Training: Willingness to travel to Italy for a week or two of training on advanced embroidery machinery and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years of experience with embroidery machinery, particularly Tajima Embroidery Equipment and multihead/stretch machines.
- Proven mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot and repair complex machinery.
- Experience in machine maintenance—knowledgeable enough to differentiate between machine and IT-related issues and capable of fixing them.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly and train others on best practices.
- Willingness to travel to Italy for training (1-2 weeks).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time efficiently.
- Experience with manufacturers or in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, twist, and move around equipment. Dexterity for threading needles and securing garments in the hoop. Ability to lift 5-10 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- While this role does not involve formal direct reports, the Embroidery Technician will mentor embroidery operators and ensure adherence to best practices.
