Are you passionate about Machining? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Metal Finishing Operations department. As a Machinist, you'll be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. In this job, you will primarily be responsible for operating automated and manual machines as part of a sheet metal processing cell. Machines include automated punching, forming and laser cutting machines as well as manual and automated hydraulic press brakes. You will be working in a production environment where all jobs have a measured standard production rate and you will be held accountable for the quality of your work. Most tasks require good hand/eye coordination and a full range of motion of both hands and arms on a regular and repetitive basis. Key Responsibilities:
- Use of computer-controlled sheet metal processing machines to produce of high-quality parts by reading and interpreting complex blueprints.
- Using simple material handling equipment and overhead cranes to handle sheet-metal stock ranging from 30 lbs. to 150 lbs.
- Inspecting parts using various measurement tools.
What you'll Need To Succeed:
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Ability to use or learn how to use measuring equipment such as micrometers, dial calipers, protractors and tape measures.
- Basic knowledge of machine controls and programs.
- Relevant Work Experience:
- One year of experience with the set-up and operation of computer-controlled punching, cutting, forming machines, or press brakes.
Preferred:
- 1 year of machinist and manufacturing experience a plus.
Major Physical Demands:
- Standing: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
- Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 50 lbs.
- Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances
- Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 25 lbs.
- Pushing: Occasional use of electric hand truck to move parts a moderate distance.
- Pulling: Occasional use of electric hand truck to move parts a moderate distance.
- Bending: Frequent bending and crouching required to perform a variety of tasks. Reaching
- Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
- Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 50 lbs., along with a variety of hand-tools.
- Other: Most tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
