Position ObjectiveCreates and constructs tools and parts in a variety of materials such as metal and plastic. Uses blueprints, drawings, and/or CAD designs to create models according to established specifications. May perform minor repair on model making machinery.
Primary or Major Responsibilities: - Must be knowledgeable of, and experienced in, the operation, upkeep, and maintenance of machine shop equipment, including (but not limited to) lathe, mill, shear, brake, band saw, grinder, and drill.
- Working knowledge of forming, bending, and machining both metal and plastic materials.
- Practical skills in the use of tools, processes, and mechanical fixtures.
- Ability to fabricate and assemble production tooling, fixtures, and prototype parts.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and Solidworks drawings
- Performs preventative maintenance to machine shop tooling and equipment in the model shop according to the preventative maintenance plan.
- Maintain shop to assure a clean, safe, and orderly work environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: - High School diploma required. Associate's degree preferred or equivalent technical training.
- Knowledge of a 3D modeling package and CNC machining practices and set-up are a plus
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- U.S Citizenship is required.
Safety:Ensure that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized. All safety equipment must be used while operating machinery and lock out tag out procedures followed.
