MACHINIST (JOB ID 556) - Ambri : Job Details

Ambri, an energy startup commercializing an innovative battery technology first developed at MIT, is seeking an experienced Machinist with ProtoTRAK knowledgeAs a member of the battery cell development team and reporting to the Senior Manager, the successful candidate will work alongside leading battery scientists and engineers to play an integral role in helping to advance our technology. With a machine shop that is utilized by all departments for making prototypes and small batch runs, the work includes simple modifications of existing parts to complete machining from stock. This is a one-person machine shop, and, therefore, we seek an individual with the comfort, confidence and expertise to have complete understanding and control of the equipment and operations. Responsibilities

• Operate and program CNC lathe and mill, using ProtoTRAK control
• Order parts and keep tool room stocked
• Monitor, maintain and repair equipment in the shop
• Diagnose and troubleshoot machine issues
• Train individuals on basic tool use such as band saws and drill press
• Recommend and justify capital expenditures for new equipment

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on experience working in a R&D or Tool Room setting
• ProtoTRAK mill and lathe knowledge
• Above average knowledge of machines, tooling requirements, set up and operation
• Basic knowledge of materials, mathematics, trigonometry and geometry
• Understanding of general-purpose computer systems
• Solid communication skills and demonstrated collaboration to support, at times, high demand machine shop needs
• Strong mechanical knowledge and proven ability to troubleshoot equipment
• Surface grinding knowledge a plus
• Vocational trades school, high school diploma or equivalent preferred
