Job Description :

Mueller is currently searching for a Machinist to join our team in Chattanooga, TN. This role is suited for an experienced CNC machine programmer with CAD experience to support Research and Development activities at the Mueller Technology Center. We will provide a challenging opportunity to apply experience, skill, and creativity to make prototype products, tooling, fixtures, and test equipment as required for a variety of product types using HAAS 5-Axis CNC Mill and conventional machining, grinding, and welding. Requirements and Expectations:

  • Proficient with CNC programming software using Fusion 360 or MasterCAM
  • Ability to design and Model fixtures for complex geometry
  • Ability to setup, program, operate and troubleshoot CNC mills and lathes without assistance.
  • Understands, interprets and edits G-code programming
  • Communicates thoughts and ideas, both verbally and in writing, to co-workers and
  • Set up and operate HAAS 5-Axis CNC mill to create engineering prototypes, fixtures, tooling, etc.
  • Confers with design and project engineers to develop and debug products, testing equipment, tooling, and fixtures as required.
  • Works from prints, written, and oral instructions to plan work, select and procure tools and materials, and determine the proper and most efficient method for setup and machining.
  • Knowledgeable and capable of interpreting standard Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).
  • Uses various measuring devices to ensure work is to specification; including, but not limited to, coordinate measuring machine, micrometers, calipers, and custom gages.
  • Must be detail oriented and maintain safe operations.
  • Maintains work area, equipment, and tools.
  • Coordinates the subcontracting of machine work when required
  • Identifies and assists in the remediation of safety hazards in the work place
  • Self-directing and organized to prioritize work in an efficient manner
Other responsibilities / Basic work details:
  • Assists engineers in design for manufacture of machined and fabricated parts
  • Helps to solve problems with making things that have never been made.
  • Travel to Plant sites occasionally and lift up to 50 lbs
Educational Requirements and other skills:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Six years of machining or tool making experience required.
  • Ability to maintain +/- .001 tolerances
