Machinist - FRENCH OIL MILL MACHINERY : Job Details

Summary/Objective: Responsible for setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machines. Machines may include manual lathes, manual mills, grinders, CNC machines and machining centers. Applies knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, maintainability of materials, and layouttechniques. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.Operate various machine tools to machine parts from start to finishStudy blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished partsVerify dimensions and finishes using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, height gages, gage blocks, and other inspection equipmentSelect, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machinesDetermine and follow set-up requirements and follow sequence of operation on routerSet up and operate machine on first piece run to verify accuracy of machine settings and perform first piece inspection subject to approval by the quality departmentMaintain clean and organized workspace and assist in the maintenance and repair of machines as requiredCollaborate with manufacturing engineering and quality to facilitate improvements of process and/or quality concernsMaintain maximum efficiency and productivity through areas via the use of lean methods and participation in continuous improvement activitiesQualifications:High School diploma or GED5+ years of machining experience on a variety of CNC and/or manual turning, milling and grinding equipmentMust be able to read blueprints, CAD drawings, sketches, written instructions and interpret dataExperience in a job shop environment with rapid changeovers and short cycle times a plusAbove average math and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and within a teamStrong ability to multi-task, prioritize and adapt to shifting prioritiesSelf-motivated and striving for perfectionU.S. Citizenship is required for this positionWork Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters in a manufacturing shop while performing the essential functions of this job.
