General Description:The Machinist is responsible for performing precision machining operations by setting up, editing, and operating a computer numerical controlled (CNC) operated machines to produce high quality parts as per customer specifications, drawings, and/or work instructions within standard production times. The team member will be trained under Supervisors or safety trainer's guidance until proficient.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform precision machining operation and maintenance.Operate material handling equipment including fork-trucks and overhead cranes.Pick and pull material to load machines.Perform first piece and periodic inspections utilizing work order, tape measure, calipers, and squares.Correctly deburr, label, and package all products as required and complete all required paperwork.Maintain housekeeping and ensure work area is clean and well organized for on coming shift.Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations. Attention to safety must be adhered to at all times.Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input or edit the computerized machine control media.Must be able to fully interpret manufacturing drawings, understand tooling selection, make appropriate setups, specify tool paths, select proper tooling and understand the use of gages and measurement equipment. Must know how to do tool changes, offsets, change inserts, make jigs, selects, aligns and secures holding fixtures.Other duties may be assigned as needed.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); Must have 2+ years experience operating, setting up and programming CNC machines.Additional Skills and Experience:Computer knowledge required. Must have an understanding of “G code.” AUTO CAD and Mastercam, experience a plus, but not required.Strong math skills and a working knowledge of measuring tools and equipment including but not limited to tape measure, micrometers, calipers, gage sets and squares.Experience with Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) required.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, work orders and procedure manuals as well as customer supplied blue prints.Ability to work in a fast paced environment and keep up with the daily demands of production.Familiar with lean and continuous improvement tools and their applicationsPhysical Demands / Work Environment:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job in a fast-paced environment.
