We are looking for a Machinist to join our team in Loveland, CO. JFT will accept resumes until this position is filled.

We are looking for someone who wants to help build and grow a high-performance shop in the Northern Colorado region. The Machinist is responsible for the operation of both manual and CNC machines, programming, and assisting with estimating work.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day operational and support activities of the shop, ensuring that work production meets established objectives, specifications, and standards, while adhering to all applicable operating policies and procedures.
  • Create programs for machining of prototype and production parts and produce custom tooling and fixture design as needed for complex prototypes.
  • Operate standard and specialized equipment, i.e. engine lathe, horizontal or vertical milling machines, band saw, drill press, and measuring tools.
  • Consult with engineers and other personnel regarding product information such as design, capacity, and purpose, and types of materials to be used for fabrication.
  • Provide in-process inspection of parts including dimensional, hardness and surface finish and interpretate and adjust machine tool offsets for wear and temperature fluctuations.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing programs and perform digital upload/downloads through network computers & machine interfaces.
  • Analyze written specifications, drawings, rough sketches, and oral instructions to plan layout and determine sequence of operations. Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters. Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5- 10 years working in machine shop environment.
  • Experience calculating feeds and speeds based on cutter type, cutter geometry, and parent material type.
  • Well versed in CAM software with CNC mill and lathe experience.
  • 5 Axis milling experience and G-Code/M-Code programming is a plus.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work with export-controlled items.

Typical Working Conditions:

Primarily a machine and fabrication shop environment around equipment such as water jet tables, lathes, milling machines and press brakes. Welding operations are often taking place nearby. This job requires adherence to strict safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). JFT has implemented a 9/80 work schedule, and the office is closed every other Friday.

Physical Requirements:

This job may involve lifting and moving parts or materials, typically up to 50lbs. The ability to stand for long periods (8+ hours) is required. Precise hand movements are necessary for handling tools, making adjustments to machines and operating a computer. Good eyesight, including close vision and depth perception, is important for detailed work and inspecting finished parts. Bending, stooping and crouching is required, along with the ability to maneuver around machinery and equipment. Good hand-eye coordination is necessary to operate machines safely and effectively. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members, customers and vendors.
