Summary The Southern Arizona Health Care System is currently recruiting one Mail Clerk in the Supply Chain Management Service in Tucson, Arizona. This position performs mail handling, processing/sorting, and distribution of all incoming and outgoing mail and packages from the United States PostalService, and other small parcel carriers such as UPS and FEDEX. Responsibilities Duties included but are not limited to: Evaluate incoming mail correspondence against the corresponding routing symbol associated with the name and service location of the addressee. Sort to appropriate service and recipient and perform research to verify and validate correct addressee receives incoming/outgoing mail for 20 or more categories. Read misdirected mail for content to identify subject matter and reroute to proper distribution point. Segregate outgoing mail into various shipping categories and determine the most economical method for shipping mail and packages considering, content, weight, and expected time of delivery and priority. Prepare outgoing mail for both, domestic and international destinations, ensuring adherence to processing requirements as set forth by the United States Postal Service and other small parcel carriers as established in Federal, State, and Local Codes. Screen incoming and outgoing mail for items requiring priority shipment. Document controlled and accountable mail using control registers, tracking information and scan technology to track timeliness, proof of delivery, and proof of receipt. Operate equipment and meters designed to aid in the processing of outgoing mail through the United States Postal Service, small and large parcel carriers, express carriers and airborne carriers. Monitor mail equipment during operation, clearing any business interruptions which may inhibit processing of mail. Evaluate mail equipment malfunctions, performs minor repairs and adjustments as necessary and documents trouble log with necessary information so the vendor can troubleshoot equipment. Assist temporary employees during peak seasons and performs such miscellaneous clerical duties as recording work volume, pick-up and forwarding of completed work. Provide excellent customer service throughout the facility to both internal and external customers, and work to resolve and report any issues which may affect daily operations. Provide expertise to customers seeking advice on how to process mail and packages utilizing the most economical means available. Maintain up-to-date directory by name, room and telephone number, organization, and forwarding address for use in work assignment. Process basic daily usage and expenditure reports which are used by supervisors to track daily, monthly, and annual spending from various machines, accounts and meters utilized in daily mail operations to process mail. Perform research to assist in assembly of data for year-end reports on annual spend and bum rates, and projected budgets. Figures are used to report trends and analyze cost reduction methods and analyze budgets. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm Virtual: This is not a virtual position. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: General Experience: For a GS-4, You must possess at least one year of general experience that equips you to successfully perform the duties of this position. Physical Requirements: Long periods of standing and walking while sorting and delivering of mail to end users and services within and external to the organizations serviced by SAVAHCS. Recurring lifting and carrying of moderately heavy materials (up to 50 pounds) while packaging and dispatching. Occasional lifting of heavier materials may be required in a safe manner and with the assistance of lifting equipment and other personnel.
