Summary:

Originally called the Maine Red Claws, the Maine Celtics have been the NBA G League affiliate of the Boston Celtics since the teams inaugural campaign during the 2009-10 season. The Boston Celtics purchased the franchise prior to the start of the 2019-20 season and renamed the team to the Maine Celtics in May 2021. The Celtics play their home games at the Portland Expo. 20 players have earned GATORADE Call-Ups to the NBA, including two players to Boston. Additionally, 31 Boston Celtics have been assigned to Maine for development or rehabilitation. 12 former Maine coaches have made the jump to the NBA, including Boston Celtics Assistant General Manager Austin Ainge.

We are on the lookout for a dynamic individual with experience in mascot performance, as this role requires engaging with diverse audiences and embodying our brand's spirit. Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Game Presentation Team: Partner to brainstorm and implement innovative game-day experiences that engage and energize our audience.
  • Costume and Prop Management: Oversee the procurement and maintenance of all uniforms, costumes, and props, ensuring they are performance ready.
  • Engage Fans: Execute entertaining routines and interact with crowds by leading cheers and posing for photos, creating memorable experiences.
  • Character Embodiment: Bring the mascot to life through expressive body language and movements, fostering a strong connection with the audience.
  • Positive Presence: Serve as a motivating presence for athletes and fans during competitions, maintaining high energy and enthusiasm throughout the event.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be available for all 24 home games during the 2024/2025 season, including pre-season, playoff games, and various out-of-arena appearances throughout the year. The schedule can be found at Maine G League Schedule.Demonstrated ability to stay highly organized with exceptional administrative and time management skills to effectively manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage professionally and build rapport with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • A collaborative mindset, ready to work closely with team members to create a cohesive and energetic atmosphere at events.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for engaging with fans and embodying the mascot character, contributing to an unforgettable game-day experience.

Featuring 29 teams, 28 with direct affiliations to NBA franchises for 2021-22, the league offers elite professional basketball at an affordable price in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. 41 percent of all NBA players at the start of the 2021-22 season boasted NBA G League experience.
