We specialize in assisted living and memory care. Highgate Senior Living's mission is to devote ourselves to help each resident live a life of purpose and each of us plays a crucial role in doing so. We operate communities in the western US and are seeking the right Maintenance Assistant to join our team. This position is fulltime or parttime, with flexible hours and includes being responsible for the care of our residents' suites, their gathering and social spaces in the community, assisting with the major and minor mechanical systems of the building, and the building exterior and grounds.The best candidate will be an organized and detail-oriented individual with a positive and self-motivated attitude. Experience in facilities maintenance, equipment repair, interior painting and/or wall repair, groundskeeping, safety programs is a plus. You must have strong communication and critical thinking abilities as you'll be providing customer service to seniors while working in their home. We also evaluate a person's unique skill sets and recognize different levels of professional experience when considering candidates for the role.SKILLS NEEDED:Good customer service skills, the ability to intuit, and problem solveSkilled in the use of hand and power toolsBasic computer skillsKnowledge necessary to perform common household repairs and touch-up paintingAbility to pivot, change direction and accomplish tasks with innovative approachesDetail orientation, demonstrated follow up and documentation abilitiesAbility to safely operate various types of cleaning equipmentAbility to take feedback and incorporate it into your effortsAn understanding of or the ability to learn basic maintenance and housekeeping practicesProven track record of being hardworking with a get it done attitudeAn understanding or the willingness to gain an understanding of the various forms of dementia and how residents with dementia can continue to live with purposeRELATABLE EXPERIENCE:Prior experience working in seniors housing as a Maintenance AssistantPrior experience working in an apartment/condo complex, hospitality center or hotel as a Maintenance AssistantJobs or volunteer assignments that have given you opportunities to provide maintenance and or housekeeping servicesOther roles that have included hands on multi-unit maintenance experienceExperience in customer service, warehouse, military, industrial or technical environmentsRoles in which you have been a multi-tasker in a preventative maintenance or similar settingJobs that included various forms of repair work and preventative maintenanceQUALIFICATIONS:At least 21 years of ageAbility to obtain CPR & First Aid CertificationCurrent negative TB testPossess the ability to sit, stand, bend, and move continuously during work hoursAbility to carry or transfer up to 50lbs with assistanceAbility to pass criminal record/background checkBe efficient and exercise good time management skillsMust be able to work well independently with little oversightMust have a track record of top-notch organizational abilities and communication skillsCapability with hand and power toolsValid driver license with clean driving abstractWilling to attend and incorporate into your work efforts different types of trainingAs an organization we offer our team members a good benefits package, the ability to be heard, have their opinions about things count and the opportunity to innovate. Our compensation package will be flexible for this role based on the credentialing, tenure and skill sets each candidate brings for consideration. The hourly wage range for this position is $18.00 to $23.00 per hour. Prior experience working with seniors is a plus.
