The North Carolina State Parks is seeking self-motivated staff for our maintenance teams at various Parks statewide. The Maintenance/Construction Technician I, performs manual work to maintain Park grounds, facilities, and equipment. The position will work both independently and with others assisting in all areas of basic custodial duties, boundary line clearing and maintenance, trail maintenance, trash collection, mowing and trimming, prescribed burns, basic auto mechanics, and other similar work.Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:* Performing a variety of semiskilled tasks in a trade such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and facility maintenance, and/or auto mechanics.* Operating large and small equipment and/or tools.* Purchasing resources in accordance with state purchasing policies and procedures.* Providing record keeping duties.Position/Physical Requirements:* Must be able to perform work inside and outside in various environmental conditions.* Must be ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects with or without a reasonable accommodation.* Typically works 7am - 4pm Monday-Friday; must be able to work weekends, evenings, and/or holidays when necessary. This schedule may vary.* Position is considered Essential/Mandatory Staff and required to work on adverse weather days, during park emergencies, and may be called to work on special events.* Must have the ability to perform strenuous physical work with alertness to surroundings in extremes of weather and challenging physical environments with or without reasonable accommodation.Within 90 days of hire date, must have the ability to obtain and Maintain:* Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's licenseWithin 12-24 months of hire date, must have the ability to obtain and maintain:* Class A CDL* CPR Certification* Emergency Medical Responder Certification* Wild Land Fire Suppression Certifications* Certified in S212 Chainsaw Operations Training - perform hazardous tree assessments and if necessary, tree removal within the park.To receive credit for your work history and credentials, you must provide the information on the application form.
