Parish: St. Thrse of Carmel Catholic Church

Location: 4355 Del Mar Trails Rd, San Diego, CA 92130

Reports to: Business Manager/Principal

Employment Type: Full time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour.

Position Summary:

The Maintenance/Custodial Worker is part of a team that is responsible for keeping parish/school meeting rooms, classrooms, communal areas, hall, church, and all bathrooms clean, sanitized and well maintained. Responsibilities will include daily maintenance, cleaning, sanitizing, minor repairs, and any urgent emergency cleaning. Responsible for assisting staff and faculty with all parish and school activities. Oversee all maintenance and plant development for the Campus, including buildings and grounds.

Brief Summary of Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

* Maintain all facilities (Church, Parish office, School, Classrooms, Hall) including cleaning, vacuuming, emptying trash, dusting.

* Restock supplies in all restrooms (paper products, soap)

* Maintain and track the various supplies needed throughout property to include a list of materials needed submitted to Business Manager.

* Maintains building systems and equipment through routine inspections to identify corrective and preventive actions. Oversee contractors and vendors to assist in repairs for various construction projects.

* Creates and prioritizes work and improvement lists.

* Open, close, and set up parish/school conference rooms, classrooms, hall, kitchens, and bathrooms for meetings, as well as teardowns.

* Clean and maintain parking areas, sidewalks, and walkways.

* Check/maintain any electrical, plumbing, and/or drywall issues prior to calling an outside company.

* Work on repairs/maintenance to all parish/school facilities, equipment, and outdoor areas

* Routinely inspect campus to identify corrective and preventative actions.

* Creates and prioritizes work and improvement lists.

* Knowledge and use of power equipment and hand tools to complete tasks.

* Assist with Church setups for liturgical seasons and events.

* Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

* Ability to be self-sufficient and perform outlined tacks with little or no supervision

* Must have knowledge of procedures, practices, tools, and equipment used in maintenance.

* Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach, and climb ladders.

* Must be able to make judgement calls related to emergency and safety matters.

* Must have the ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.

Education & Experience:

* Must be 21 years of age or older.

* Must speak and understand English.

* Must complete and clear a background check and Safe Environment training.

* Prior minor electrical/maintenance/custodial experience helpful

* Working knowledge of repair methods, materials, tools, and common practices

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job this employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the parish facility, as well as maneuver throughout the facility to clean and maintain the property. The employee must be able to perform moderate to heavy manual labor, including frequent bending, walking, and lifting to fifty pounds.
