J OB SUMMARY Under the general direction of the Environment of Care Manager, and the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Groundskeeper will maintain the grounds, outdoor facilities and vehicles in a clean, safe, attractive and acceptable manner, in accordance with TJC, federal, state, and local guidelines, organizational and departmental policies and procedures. Position may be assigned duties inside the facility as needed or during inclement weather. Staff member communicates with, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality. Position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast pace and dynamic environment.STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE 1. Maintains all grass at a height of no more than three inches.2. Keeps curbing around driveways and sidewalks edged and swept.3. Keeps all shrubs and flower beds free of grass and weeds.4. Performs preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.5. Keep flowers around building watered as needed. Performs irrigation activities.6. Cleans all entrances to the facility.7. Cleans parking lots.8. Cleans outside windows.9. Cleans equipment and notifies supervisor of equipment needing repairs. Reports safety hazards to the Supervisor, or to maintenance and logs on Help Desk.10. Responsible for maintaining grounds on hospital proper site and around physician office complex on hospital campus.11. Participates in continuing education.12. Responsible for maintaining organizational facilities in accordance with TJC, federal and state, organizational and departmental policies and procedures.13. Supervises and monitors inmates and receives inmate management training.14. Plants shrubs, trees and flowers. Prunes trees and shrubs.15. Sprays for weeds and insects using unrestricted chemicals.16. Perform minor maintenance and repair on equipment.17. Clean up litter.18. Maintain drains, gutters and storm water runoff avenues.19. Power wash exterior surfaces.20. Maintain the highest standards of hospital cleanliness.21. Performs other duties as required, or other assigned duties inside the facility during inclement weather.22. Perform any exterior maintenance of facilities as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor23. Maintain all roof exhaust fans on a daily basis.24. Check all roof HVAC units on a daily basis.25. Handle exterior painting.26. Maintain integrity of parking lots.27. Inspect grounds daily.28. Maintain all company vehicles and keep a log of actions.RequirementsMinimum Level of Education: High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred; one year or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Formal Training: None required.Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required.Work Experience: One year or more experience is preferred as a Groundskeeper or Maintenance Mechanic; or related work in the healthcare or related industry.Tools and Equipment Used:Calculator, personal computer, telephone, copier, printer, mowers, hedge trimmers, weed eaters, hoes, rakes, shovels, blowers, drills, saws, grinders, motor vehicles and other associated grounds keeping and maintenance equipment.
