The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing regular maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of equipment and machinery used in the production of hot mix asphalt. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of the plant, minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair: Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on plant equipment including crushers, mixers, conveyors, screens, and dryers.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Follow a regular preventive maintenance schedule for all machinery, tools, and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and extending lifespan.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and resolve them in a timely manner to avoid disruptions to production.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures and plant protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Assist with plant safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Report any issues that may affect plant performance or safety.
  • Parts Management: Order and track replacement parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance and repairs. Ensure the plant has an adequate stock of critical components.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with plant operators and other maintenance staff to ensure smooth operations and address any mechanical concerns promptly.
  • Equipment Calibration: Calibrate and adjust equipment to ensure proper mixing, temperature, and quality of hot mix asphalt produced.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency maintenance situations during operating hours and provide support during after-hours when necessary.
  • Environmental Compliance: Ensure that maintenance practices comply with environmental regulations related to noise, air quality, and other relevant standards.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (additional technical certifications or training is a plus).
  • Previous experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in an asphalt or construction environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to use tools and machinery safely and efficiently, including welding equipment, hand tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of hot mix asphalt production processes and equipment.
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to document work clearly.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Comfort with working in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold).
  • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty environments, wearing appropriate safety equipment.
Working Conditions:
  • Full-time, with shift work or on-call availability as required.
  • Work is performed at the Hot Mix Asphalt Plant, which may be noisy, dusty, and require physical labor.
  • Compliance with safety protocols, including wearing protective gear such as gloves, safety goggles, ear protection, and steel-toed boots.
Compensation:
  • Pay Rate - $17 / hr
  • Benefit Packages available after 3 months.
