The Duluth Bethel is seeking a Maintenance/Janitor for our non-profit residential treatment and correctional facility. Must be willing to consent to a background check, and, if chemically dependent, be free from problematic substance abuse for at least one year.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspect grounds weekly, more often if necessary, for cleanliness and needed repairs.
  • Perform electrical, plumbing and routine maintenance repairs as needed, using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Perform housekeeping duties: wash walls & windows, wash & wax floors, shampoo carpets, etc. using appropriate equipment, including power mower and snow blower.
  • Perform general pick up and delivery.
  • Assist in routine maintenance of vehicles.
  • Must be physically able to stretch, walk, stoop, reach, use ladders, and carry up to 50 pounds in performance of job duties.
  • Purchase and maintain adequate supplies and equipment for the Bethel's maintenance needs, upon authorization of supervisor.
  • Attend required training.
  • Be available to work extended hours.
  • Provide occasional on-call back-up for the Building and Grounds Supervisor.
  • Perform other duties consistent with job description as assigned by supervisor.
  • Other requirements:

  • Three years experience in maintenance, grounds, and housekeeping.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Second class boiler's license preferred.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and current vehicle insurance.
  • Must have a high degree of honesty, integrity, and empathy in relationships with others.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries, respect confidentiality, and act as a role model for others.
