Position Type: Custodian/Maintenance/MaintenanceDate Posted: 10/1/2024Location: Buildings and Grounds DepartmentDate Available: ASAP Job Summary: Maintenance personnel are responsible for performing repair work requiring the knowledge of a variety of skilled trades, including, but not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and masonry. Maintenance personnel focus on resolving safety and operational concerns, while working with the Director of Buildings and Grounds to implement a preventative maintenance program. Maintenance personnel work to ensure that facilities are safe and in operating condition for students, staff, and members of the community. Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent;
- Must hold a valid State of Illinois driver's license;
- Three years' experience in a skilled trade(s) and/or construction or maintenance field preferred;
- Specialized skill and required certification in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and/or HVAC trades preferred;
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of carpentry, painting, electrical, and plumbing work;
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures, as well as the ability to operate equipment used in a specific trade;
- Must be able to physically lift in up to 50 lbs., move equipment, unload supplies, climb ladders, work on roof tops, at heights, and in confined spaces;
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with administration, maintenance and custodial personnel;
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing;
- Ability to establish positive relationships with those encountered in the course of their work;
- Ability to respond respectfully to common inquiries or complaints from supervisors and staff;
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals;
Salary and Benefits:
- Starting salary of $24.88 per hour;
