DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
  • Inspects and tests machinery and equipment routinely; as well as conducts safety inspections.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots a variety of industrial equipment using tools such as multi-meters. Also use visual, audio and vibration observations of machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Repairs electrical apparatuses, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains the physical structure of the establishment.
  • Repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots, relay logic circuits, drives, or programmable controllers.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Enters, tracks, and completes work orders in the Maintenance system.
  • Performs Lock Out Tag Out when maintenance or repair is needed on equipment.
  • Enters purchase requisitions in NAVISION and gets budget manager approval for supplies or parts as needed.
  • Tracks and keeps inventory on all parts/tools used in maintenance repairs and equipment purchases.
  • Assists management to contact and coordinate with vendors/contractors for supplies and large scope repair jobs.
  • Ensures safety policies and procedures (both in-house and regulatory) to decrease the potential for employee injuries on the job.
  • Maintains open line of communication between employees, management, and executives by communicating with others as needed to coordinate activities of individual departments.
  • Recommends measures to improve maintenance area, safety, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency, safety, or quality of department.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves work problems and/or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Leads 5S and Housekeeping in the lubricants area.
  • Participates in the non-conformance process and leads corrective actions activities according to approved procedures
  • Other duties may be assigned.
RequirementsQualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of mechanical equipment, electrical systems, instrumentation, and use of basic maintenance tools, pumps, motors, plumbing, and ability to read drawings/blueprints is preferred. Education/Experience: Two-year certificate from college or technical school (electronics and instrumentation preferred) and three to five years related experience and/or training. Working knowledge in automation and process control systems, such as Allen Bradley PLC components. Ability to read, interpret, understand, and find (if necessary) written or electronic information, including information from diagrams, schematics, blueprints, graphs, charts and input information into a computer. Knowledge of 24VDC/AC, 120V, 240V, and 480V equipment, wiring, and components. Supervisory: Not immediately but potential to supervise subordinate maintenance associates. Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and mechanical drawings. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of managers or peers. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track work orders and inventory; be able to input information into word processing software; and use e-mail for effective communication. Certificates and Licenses: Required -Forklift Certification; Recommended - HazMat Certification, Electrical Safe Work Practices, Electrical apprenticeship Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
