Maintenance Manager:
SUMMARY: The Maintenance Manager is responsible for enhancing equipment reliability across production, facilities, utilities, and grounds. This role involves planning, directing, and coordinating maintenance operations, managing department expenses, budgeting, and spare parts inventory, and ensuring proper staffing and personnel development. The Maintenance Manager is also tasked with maintaining a safe and organized work environment, fostering cross-functional collaboration for operational efficiency, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. - Partner with EHS and Quality Assurance supporting programs to ensure safety and the production of safe, quality foods.
- Responsible for all maintenance work performed and completed in conformance with applicable codes, guidelines or standards established by a manufacturer or regulating body.
- Ensure a safe and organized work environment for the maintenance department, and maintain all equipment and company assets in proper safety conditions at all times, with no bypasses allowed.
- Ensure repairs and maintenance to all equipment and facilities are performed with neat workmanship.
Leadership and Resources Management
- Provide direction and support to the Maintenance supervisors to develop plans to increase MTBF efficiency and reliability for all the assets of responsibility.
- Create a culture of root cause elimination for equipment failure at supervisor, lead and technician levels.
- Ensure that targeted improvement plans are in place for chronic equipment failures.
- Support, coach and guide production to improve operational performance.
- Measure the effectiveness of the preventive maintenance program and improve it using asset repair and performance history, monitoring devices, mechanic and operator recommendations.
- Develop and manage department budget, maintenance expenses, and spare parts inventory.
- Develop multiyear rebuild programs for key assets for capital and cash flow planning.
- Negotiate scope and price for outsourced services.
- Assist Purchasing and Engineering with new equipment specifications and related vendor issues.
- Determine appropriate staffing levels for department. Participate in staffing activities including interviewing and candidate selection processes. Ensure overtime and work schedules are maintained within the budget while maintaining the plant and equipment to a high standard.
- Assist Maintenance Supervisors in evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
- Conduct periodic performance evaluations for direct reports, identify development opportunities, and provide ongoing coaching to foster a culture of professional growth.
- Maintain high morale among department members, promoting cross collaboration with all functions and nurture a work environment that promotes engagement, inclusiveness and company values.
- Ensure plant guidelines and policies are administered and supported by department supervisors and leaders.
- Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives to maximize production capabilities and minimize the cost of non-conformance. Support and help execute improvement projects for the plant
Skills
- Knowledgeable on TPM, Predictive Maintenance Systems, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Facility Processing, Packaging Equipment and Plant Infrastructure
- Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), packaging equipment, electrical, controls and trouble-shooting
- Able to work effectively with supervisors, mechanics, team leads, the stockroom, the maintenance planner, and the entire plant maintenance team
- Able to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and process blue prints
- Budgeting, staffing, ERP and line balancing experience
- Ensure high standards for mechanical uptime and reliability, regulatory compliance, plant safety, and maintenance budget. Knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations is required
- Excellent project management skills to handle multiple plant projects and overall plant maintenance
- Knowledge of Yields, Plant Efficiencies, Operations Procedures, SQF, USDA and HACCP procedures
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering. Must have strong mechanical and controls experience. A thorough knowledge of food processing or manufacturing is preferred
Experience: 10 years of demonstrated experience in supervising maintenance or industrial process engineering within a manufacturing environment
