ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operates equipment used in the maintenance of City parks.
    • Operates mowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers and other yard tools
    • Performs maintenance duties, such as general cleaning of streets and City property
    • Applies chemicals for weed control
    • Power washes facilities
    • Performs simple carpentry tasks
    • Plants flowerbeds, renovates existing landscape area and installs new landscaping
    • Inspects grounds, facilities, and park areas to ensure cleanliness and safe operation
    • Maintains site or equipment by providing basic repairs and cleaning
  • Performs facility maintenance of City playground equipment.
    • Paints equipment
    • Maintains ball park fields
    • Repairs equipment as needed
    • Cleans restrooms and empties trash cans
  • Operates assigned City vehicle.
  • Abides by all policies, procedures, and rules associated with the Safety Program
  • Must be available during some holidays to assist with set up and clean up for City community events.
  • Must be able to work the allocated hours of the position and be willing to report for duty on short notice at any hour of the day or night
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or its equivalent (GED)
  • One (1) year full time, paid experience in maintenance, landscaping, equipment operations, or general construction
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid Class C Texas Driver's License
  • Reliable transportation and liability insurance
  • Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of the following pre-employment checks:

CITY OF ROSENBERGSUMMARY OF EMPLOYEE BENEFITS PART I: INSURANCE The City of Rosenberg offers health and life Insurance to all full-time employees with eligibility beginning on the first (1st) day of the month following date of employment. The City has implemented a premium incentive deduction for all employees enrolled in the City's health insurance program, who have not used tobacco products in any form in the past three months and continue to not use tobacco products. (5) LIFE AND AD&D INSURANCE: The City automatically provides Basic Life Insurance for all eligible employees at no cost. Basic Life Insurance is $25,000 with no option to add additional coverage. The benefit is paid to your beneficiaries in the event of your death. (6) LONG TERM DISABILITY:The City provides employees with Long Term Disability in the amount of 60 percent of your salary (depending on position category) to a maximum of $5,000 per month. Benefits begin after 90 days of disability and may continue to Social Security Normal Retirement Age (SSNRA). Benefits will be offset by any payments from SS, Workers Comp and other income offsets. (7) WORKERS' COMPENSATION:All employees are covered under the Texas Workers' Compensation Insurance program through the Texas Municipal League. Eligibility for benefits is automatic and effective on the date of hire. (8) SUPPLEMENTAL TERM & WHOLE LIFE, CANCER & AD&D INSURANCE:The City of Rosenberg offers you a variety of voluntary benefits. If you enroll, you pay the full cost of coverage and are able to use a payroll deduction. PART II: SAVINGS PLANS (9) TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM (TMRS):Participation in the system is mandatory for all regular full-time employees. Each employee contributes at a rate of 7 percent of his/her gross wages. The City contributes to each employee's account at a 2:1 ratio. Vesting is 5 years of service. Retirement is 20 years of service at any age or 5 years of service at the age of 60. (10) DEFERRED COMPENSATION 457(K) PLAN:Plans available through MissionSquare Retirement, DearBorn & Creggs, and Nationwide Retirement Solutions. Employees may enroll at the time of hire and throughout the year. (11) SECTION 125/FLEXIBLE BENEFITS PLAN:Allows you to contribute pre-tax salary into an account to be used to pay certain medical, dental, vision, and hearing care expenses not covered by insurance for yourself or a dependent within the meaning of Section 152(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. Dependent childcare is also available. PART III: HOLIDAYS/LEAVE (12) HOLIDAYS:New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Memorial Day, Good Friday, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Fort Bend County Fair Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday following Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and two (2) Personal Holidays (13) VACATION:Accrued vacation may be taken following the six-month probation period. Firefighters will accrue ½ shift per month. (15) LONGEVITY PAY:Begins after one year of service. $7.50 per month will be provided for each year of service rendered to the City. Longevity pay is an addition to your base salary and is paid annually, in December. PART IV: MISCELLANEOUS PROGRAMS (16) EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP):Available through Dear Oaks EAP, provides assistance for employees and their immediate family members in the event of an emotional, family, legal, medical, substance abuse and/or financial problem. The EAP is available at no cost to the employee. (18) EMPLOYEE AWARDS LUNCHEON:Each December the City holds its annual employee Awards Luncheon. Lunch is provided and various awards are given out.
