Maintenance Operator - Water & Sewer - Town of South Hill : Job Details

Job Opportunity! We are recruiting for Maintenance Operators - Water/Sewer (2) for the Town in our Public Works Department. Job duties will include but are not limited to: perform infrastructure installation and repairs; maintenance of water and sewer lines including distribution and collection systems; read water meters; set water meters and meter boxes; replace water meters; dig trenches and ditches; clean and maintain grounds around pump stations; wash stations; paint interior and exterior of pump stations; record pump hours based on daily inspections; prepare reports on pump station issues; work with marking and Miss Utility; clean work or collection area before moving to next area; direct traffic and guide trucks or equipment in congested areas; serve as flagger; clean equipment and trucks every day after completion of tasks; assist with sewer and water taps; assist with snow and ice removal, and other duties as assigned. Heavy work requiring the exertion of 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects; work requires considerable physical activity. Must be willing to work overtime and respond to emergency call back when situations arise. Work is performed under close to regular supervision. Requirements within 6 months of hire if not already obtained: Class B CDL License, VDOT Flagger Certification & Pesticide License, Class 5 Water Certification. Why Work for the Town of South Hill?
