East Grand Forks, MN is a city with a population of approximately 9,000 and located in the heart of the Red River Valley in Northwest Minnesota. It borders Grand Forks, ND and is very close to the University of North Dakota and Northland Community and Technical College. The district's K-12 enrollment is approximately 1900 students and there are four separate school buildings housing grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

Terms: 12 month position - Hours: 6:00-2:30 OR 7:00-3:30 AND as needed for snow removal and building checks. Subject to change.

Job Description: The maintenance professional is responsible for the upkeep and repair of the school facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and functional for students, staff, and visitors. Their job description typically includes the following duties and responsibilites:
Key Responsibilities: Perform general repairs and maintenance to school buildings and grounds (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, flooring, windows). Maintain and repair classroom equipment, furniture, and fixtures.Inspect the facility for safety hazards, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Address issues such as faulty wiring, water leaks, and broken equipment that could pose safety risks.Maintain the school grounds, including mowing lawns, trimming bushes, removing snow, and maintaining parking lots. Ensure walkways and pathways are clear and safe, especially during winter weather. Delivery of items within the district.Conduct regular checks and preventive maintenance on school systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to ensure they operate efficiently. Keep track of maintenance schedules for all equipment and systems, ensuring they are serviced regularly. - Cleaning and Custodial Support:
Assist custodial staff with general cleaning, especially for larger or more complex tasks. Handle special cleaning projects such as carpet cleaning or floor waxing. Substitute for custodial staff when needed. Assist with setting up and tearing down facilities for special events. - Work Orders and Documentation:
Respond to work orders and repair requests from school staff in a timely and efficient manner. Document maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections, ensuring that records are up to date for future reference. - Collaboration and Communication:
Work with school district administrators, custodians, and other maintenance staff to coordinate activities and ensure facilities are in top condition. Communicate with school staff regarding maintenance schedules, disruptions, or closures. Required Skills and Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training in building maintenance or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in facility maintenance, facility operation, construction, or related fields.
- Knowledge of minor repairs in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, basic carpentry, and other building systems.
- Ability to operate maintenance tools and equipment safely.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects as needed.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 100 lbs).
- Ability to work off of lifts and ladders of various heights.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions (for outdoor maintenance tasks).
- Comfortable working with tools, machinery, and sometimes hazardous materials.
Additional Notes: - The position may require on-call hours or emergency response outside of regular work hours, especially in the event of urgent repairs.
- The maintenance professional will be required to obtain a boiler operator license within the first year.
