DEPARTMENT: SWM MAINTENANCEFACILITY: Southwell MedicalWORK TYPE: Full Time SHIFT: VariedHOURS: SUMMARY: The Maintenance Specialist I performs general, routine maintenance and servicing operations throughout organization and area under supervision.RESPONSIBILITIES:* Attends all mandatory meetings.* Determine legitimacy of work orders issued for effective repair of equipment. * Follows safety practices to prevent liabilities to the organization. * Completes all repairs in a timely manner.* Ensures equipment and tools used by maintenance personnel are maintained in quality service for use. * Employee conducts themselves in a professional manner. * Ensures the safe and efficient operation of hospitals mechanical equipment. * Inspects and evaluates structural integrity of the organizations buildings. * Maintains stock levels of the parts in the Maintenance shop.* Repairs equipment and performs services with proficiency. * Practices Infection Control Standards daily.* Cleans shop, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms and plant. * Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified. * Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.* Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position.* Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs. * Attends all mandatory education programs.* Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.* Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.* Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.* Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.* Manages resources effectively.* Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment.* Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.EDUCATION:* GED/High School EquivalentOTHER INFORMATION:Two years of experience in fields of mechanical and electrical work normally performed by hospital maintenance personnel required. Two years of vocational type courses in areas of training which will qualify a person to fulfill duties of a maintenance mechanic or equivalent training preferred.
